Why travertine in pools is always a winning choice
The use of travertine for pool lining is definitely recommended: it is a calcareous material that forms and originates from water and in water.
It has always been used for the creation of aquatic environments such as fountains and pools; consider, for example, the many Roman fountains (most notably the famous Trevi Fountain) and ancient baths.
The only external agents capable of attacking travertine, damaging it, are acids, so let’s dispel once and for all the idea that chlorine can ruin our lining material: certainly, the action of chlorine will lead over time to a slight alteration in the color of the travertine itself, lightening it, but absolutely not damaging it.
Another reason we recommend the use of travertine in humid environments is its non-slip nature, even when wet, as can be verified by various technical tests on the material.
In the following images, you can admire our work carried out in a splendid villa in Castiglione della Pescaia.

The pool was completely lined inside with small tumbled tiles measuring 10×10 cm of Becagli light Pdr 006, these were mounted in different directions to differentiate the various areas of the pool.

The edges were made with a thickness of 4.5 cm, with special processing to accommodate LED lighting for better definition of the levels at night.
To create a color contrast, the relaxation areas around the pool are instead made in Becagli dark Pdr 011. The finish is Rural, only polished.
Another important consideration is the result you want to achieve for the color of the water.
Let’s try to explain better. Water is evidently colorless, but the very bottom of a pool can cause variations. For example, a light blue bottom will make the water appear turquoise, while increasing depth will make it appear darker.
If you look at a mountain lake, whose transparent water stands out against a darker, unevenly colored bottom, the water appears iridescent, with shades ranging from green to light blue.

It’s the same effect that will be achieved using a changing color of travertine, like Pdr 013 light earth.
The beautiful season is approaching: have you already chosen the travertine that suits you?
