Travertine House by A-cero Studio

While searching for house projects made with travertine, we came across this project by the architecture studio A-Cero Studio in Madrid, Spain.

A-cero was founded in 1996 by Joaquin Torres Architects and Rafael Llamazares. Currently, the studio has two main offices in Spain, in Madrid and La Coruña. Their range of services includes urban planning, architectural development in all phases, up to furnishing and interior design.

The residence located in Las Rozas is entirely made of travertine, including the interior and exterior walls, as well as the pool and decks.

The structure of the residence is configured as an integrated set of volumes that intersect with each other like a play of planes and surfaces. The protruding blocks and slabs give the project a “sculptural” quality.
The total area of the residence is 1,368 square meters on a sloping site that the designers utilized to distribute the building over three floors: basement, ground floor, and first floor.

The entrance is on the ground floor where the living room, lounge, and dining room are located on the right side of the house. On the left side, there is a bathroom, a courtyard, a kitchen, and a pantry. Also on the ground floor, there is a porch that connects with the dining room.

On the first floor, there is the master bedroom with dressing rooms and bathroom, two children’s bedrooms with bathrooms, a guest bedroom with bathroom, a study that connects with a walkway-library, and two small courtyards.

Finally, in the basement, there is a storage room, indoor pool, gym, sauna, massage room, cinema room, and wine cellar.

The spaces are large and spacious, the light travertine and the height of the rooms ensure that the interiors are bright and luminous. Design, functionality, and quality are the basic principles of this project that combines elegance with modernity.
