Travertine flooring in a project by Officina Abitare
Officina Abitare is an architecture firm based in Florence, founded in 2015 by architects Sara Bartolini, Claudio Mastrogiacomo, and Matteo Pierattini.

One of the latest projects involved the complete renovation of a farmhouse located in the Tuscan countryside, where radical structural consolidation work and new openings were carried out, revolutionizing the internal distribution spaces.

Rapolano stone was chosen for the floors and bathroom coverings.
For the ground floor pavements, the light cloudy travertine “Nebbia” in slab format 45.7x91x1.3 cm was used. This material, in the typical colors of the Tuscan countryside, perfectly complements the wooden furniture and, combined with the white walls, adds a lot of brightness to the space.

The light travertine was also used for the coverings and floors in the bathroom. The chosen format is 30.5x61x1.3 cm.

The shower area, however, was characterized by the use of a different color selection. Walnut travertine (dark Becagli) was chosen for the shower tray and walls, also in the 30.5×61 format.

The house’s heating system is a floor radiant panel system and is also connected to a wood stove, allowing this heat source to be utilized as well.
Travertine, in combination with the floor radiant panel system, is very well suited for this purpose, presenting no technical contraindications.
