The use of marble in the kitchen
When considering designing a new kitchen, the choice of materials becomes crucial, not only for defining its appearance but also for its durability and resistance to wear. The kitchen, for obvious reasons, is an environment where hygiene is very important. Therefore, easily washable surfaces are essential: historically, creating a marble kitchen was the most obvious and readily available solution.
Over time and with research into new materials, other solutions have become available for the creation of kitchen countertops. Synthetic materials in various colors have become a possible choice.
Naturally, when considering kitchen furnishings, natural materials such as wood and stone, marble, travertine, granite, are the most suitable for creating coverings and worktops for a new kitchen, as they lend themselves to creating kitchens in different styles.

The parts of the kitchen that lend themselves to being finished in stone material are:
The kitchen floor
Generally, the floor of a marble kitchen is made in the same way as the wall covering. But obviously, this is not an absolute rule, as the floor can be made of one material and the covering of another.

Certainly, the flooring should be durable, not particularly absorbent, and easy to clean: travertine or granite flooring guarantees all of this.
The use of a marble kitchen floor especially combines the above with a vast range of colors and the possibility of creating countertops, sinks, and coverings with the same coordinated material.
The kitchen countertop
For the choice of kitchen countertop, the same rules of resistance, ease of cleaning, and low absorption apply as for the floors.

A travertine kitchen countertop or a marble kitchen countertop are very suitable for this use, as they are materials that are not particularly absorbent, whose veins completely camouflage any stains. A protective treatment makes the surface of a travertine kitchen countertop almost completely immune to stains and absorption, as the material’s structure is very compact and not very porous.
The kitchen sink
In this case too, the inclusion of a marble kitchen sink will allow you to create a natural kitchen, a stone kitchen that will never become boring!

Marble kitchen sinks, stone or travertine, never tire and over time become ancient and never old!
Kitchen covering
Generally, it is recommended to use the same material as the kitchen countertop. What can be done is to create a color contrast (perhaps a veined countertop and a more solid-colored covering) or to create a mosaic kitchen. If desired, the covering can be limited to the parts behind the stove and behind the stone sink, leaving the other parts finished with encaustic plaster.

A “backsplash” even just 10 cm high can suffice as a countertop finish.
