The trends, ideas, and pieces that will define design in 2023

In recent years, one of the lessons we carry as part of our experience is never to underestimate the power of a good space; but what truly elevates a space? Naturally, this answer also depends on personal taste that helps sift through the sea of trends.

If you have taken a look at social media over the past two years, you have probably seen many soft-shaped mirrors or various checkered rugs pass before your eyes, but in recent months it seems the tide is changing. Although interior trends do not shift as rapidly as in fashion, the two worlds inform each other in unexpected ways: take for example the Barbiecore phenomenon (linked to the upcoming release of the Barbie movie) and the consequent revival of pink walls; the popularity of pink is just one example of what awaits us. Let’s try to make some predictions for interior design in 2023.

Color palettes

Interior design color palette

The era of the white wall with an equally white interior is numbered. Many people desire an interior with tones reminiscent of jewels, bold and impactful, preferably in palette or contrast: indeed, one of the most popular ways to interpret this trend is to play with colors to create a striking visual effect.

The lived-in and authentic that transports you far away

2023 furniture trends

Let’s say this trend stems from a well-established tendency, a desire among many to feel a bit out of the ordinary when at home: films are often chosen as inspiration, one of which is Call Me by Your Name by Luca Guadagnino.

For those who haven’t seen it, the villa where the story is set has decadent traits and offers many vintage and antique cues. Using this imagery as an example, what is required is a bright light, warm wood tones, and “character” furniture, to capture the overall emotion within a design process. The whole can then be blended with more contemporary pieces to bypass an otherwise overly theatrical look.

The stone that asserts itself

From travertine sinks to marble backsplashes, stone is truly a must, a recurring theme in the coming year, with particular emphasis on using raw materials with unexpected tones. Instead of opting for beige travertine or white marble, we can observe that red variations are emerging as a color accent.

But beautiful pink tones and deep blues or intense green marbles also appear. It is undeniable that if you have a beautiful marble table in a room, everyone will focus on it and think of nothing else.

Individuality first

Although the home has always been a place of intimacy, the new year pushes interior design to showcase unusual touches that reveal our inner selves.

Creating a space you are happy with is all that matters, so the home space depends on interpretation, but some unconventional choices are a way to make a home unique, to embrace something soft, intimate, yet also extravagant.
