The pedestal sink: a solution suitable for any type of decor

Among the most unique shapes and models are pedestal stone sinks, monoblock sinks to be placed directly against the wall, so-called freestanding, like the faucets: they immediately characterize the bathroom’s image even if they have a simple and clean design.

The pedestal or semi-pedestal sink is a solution suitable for any type of decor: whether chosen for a classic bathroom or a modern bathroom, the final effect will always be impressive, elegant, and refined as well as practical and functional. Of course, these models are fixed directly to the wall; if space allows, it is possible to have two (a convenient solution especially if the family is large), generally they have a height ranging from 80 to 90 cm and the drain siphon is hidden.

N.B.

The most historically used type of sink is the pedestal sink today also called “Free Standing”. The shape originates from the natural evolution of the object. The first washstands, made of wrought iron and ceramic bowl, were in fact placed on the floor in the bedroom, and had a lower shelf to hold the water pitcher and an upper one that housed the basin.

Choosing a bathroom sink is not easy and in the countertop or free standing version it will be the main feature around which the entire project will revolve. Due to its position, it will be the element that catches the eye as soon as one enters the bathroom; for this reason, various shapes and sizes are available to meet every furnishing and customization need.

Colonna and Cono Chiaro are two new additions to our collection. They have a simple and minimal design and the light color of the travertine in which they are made makes them essential and suitable for any environment.

  • Colonna is a sink with a simple and regular cylindrical shape, resting directly on the ground and the faucet must be installed on the wall or floor, as indeed must the drain.

  • Cono Chiaro is made of light travertine, despite having the characteristic veins of the stone it has a uniform and elegant appearance. The sink rests on the ground and the faucet can be positioned on the wall or floor.

Floor-mounted faucets are scenic and elegant and perfectly match these sink models: in particular, our model CALICE has a shape reminiscent of a crystal goblet from which it takes its name, due to its circular section it is suitable for use both in the bathroom and outdoors.

What furniture matches a pedestal sink?

Not only sinks, choosing the right furniture for your bathroom is also important. If you opt for a freestanding sink, there are two choices: go for a minimal style to highlight the sink or, to combine practicality with it, create custom furniture or furnishings.

If you choose the most essential style, here is a bathroom in the light tones of stone, where the freestanding sink with wall-mounted faucet can be paired with a simple ladder that can serve as a towel rack and at the same time as a shelf for objects. A minimal and pure space, almost zen, that immediately gives an air of relaxation and attention to well-being.

Another possibility is to create custom furniture to fit the shape of the pedestal sink. It could be a simple piece of furniture with a wooden shelf and with drawers and storage compartments on the side; in this case, the faucet can be mounted on the countertop.
