The charm of country style at the Monteverdi complex in Tuscany
The Monteverdi complex, located in the medieval village of Castiglioncello del Trinoro, in the province of Siena, is a complex of rental villas and a luxury boutique hotel. It represents the typical Tuscan country style with attention to design and pleasant and welcoming environments.

The village was born from the desire of an American lawyer, with a passion for the Renaissance, owner of an adjacent building who purchased the entire complex, calling on Roman architect Ilaria Miani to design its renovation. The designer’s style, which blends ancient with modern in a minimalist style that highlights the surrounding landscape, has permeated all the environments: the boutique hotel, the three rental villas, the art gallery, and the spa.

Great attention to sustainability was paid in the design, without making any external changes, as the Val d’Orcia area is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Inside, Miani created 10 spacious rooms and suites, some of which can be expanded by connecting different spaces.
The client had a preference for luxury bathrooms; therefore, the architect sought to create different environments so that no two were alike, choosing high-quality and luxurious materials. An example is the honeymoon suite, which features a large bathtub and a double travertine sink.

In the bathroom of the La Pieve suite, an elegant light travertine was used for the wall coverings and the bathroom cabinet, along with a distinctive countertop stone sink with an irregular shape and rustic appearance.

In this bathroom with a glass shower, a stone sink with a rough appearance was used, matching the warm color of the walls and floor. The complex is located in Castiglioncello del Trinoro in the beautiful Sienese countryside: it is reached by a small cypress-lined road immersed in the greenery of the Val d’Orcia hills. Enchanting.
