Summer interior design trends that will remain in autumn
Spoiler: you will likely see some pools and reading rooms in the coming months.
Summer has just begun and we are here with useful information on what we can expect to see in summer 2024 design that will accompany us into next autumn; if you are looking to change something in your home, a room, a space, take a look at these trends to guide your decor.
The comeback of non-color

Dark rooms are on the rise, something we predicted with the popularity of color drenching, which tends to work better with deep and highly saturated tones: we are widely convinced that searches for “dark living room” and “black kitchen” are increasing and have more than doubled compared to the same period in 2023.
And this type of trend seems very appropriate if you desire a particularly cozy and intimate home; even dark ceilings, which people traditionally avoid for fear of “shrinking” a room, are trending: do people want small (and comforting) spaces? Perhaps for this reason, they are now embracing rich browns and dark reds.
A space all to oneself

People will feel inspired to start their summer reading list in a dark academia-themed space, it is an academic subculture devoted to reading, writing, and learning that was fashionable a few years ago in fashion and has now appeared in interior design.
Searches for dark academia have increased by 219% and the term “snug” (cozy, comfortable) has grown 2.5 times; it is not necessary to dedicate an entire room to relax with a good book, and this is why searches for creating one’s own reading nook have also increased.
Japandi has never left

Considering that organic modern style is fashionable at the moment, it is not surprising that Japanese style is too, which features many of the same elegant, modern, and natural elements.
Japandi interior design, a hybrid style that blends Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian functionality, gained popularity around 2020 and is making a comeback: searches for Japandi living room have increased by 48%. And, as we have seen when talking about color drenching, it is easy to understand why: Japanese aesthetics and design are often associated with presenting the home as a sanctuary (just think of a zen garden).
A dream called wellness
Just in time for summer, refreshing dips are rightly very popular given the scorching period. But not only: besides this type of search, all others related to wellness have also increased. “Indoor sauna”, “home spa” and “garden sauna” for example are in vogue as well as “ice bath”: there are models for sale at a very high price and with an almost design-like shape.
In conclusion, it is interesting to note that skylights and large windows are also becoming increasingly popular: the idea is that bringing more natural light, in theory, will help the body maintain a healthy lifestyle.
