The Pool in the Park
Nestled in the Florentine hills, just steps from Piazzale Michelangelo and surrounded by an olive grove, is this private villa that underwent a complete renovation by the studio of Simone Speciale Associati.
The existing pool was redesigned and reimagined in terms of shapes and materials.
The Exterior Project
Both the interior and exterior of the pool were clad in light travertine PDR067 LIGHT BLEND with a brushed, unfilled finish. The solarium paving slabs come in two sizes, 70×100 and 50×100 cm, while the interior pool cladding is in the 40.6 cm format and in running lengths.
The custom edge has a beveled and shaped form to connect with the paving and make entry into the water comfortable and smooth.
Special pieces were custom-made for both the edge and corner solutions, as well as for the overflow detail.
Travertine in Pools
Travertine in pools is confirmed once again as the most suitable choice, both for its slip resistance characteristics and its compatibility with water, being a material that geologically originates in water.
However, managing and controlling the pH with an automatic device is essential to prevent a deterioration process.
For more information, see the article “Use of Travertine in Pools” for a comprehensive discussion on the topic.
