Designing the Existing

The company Oleificio Fiorentini Firenze, which has been involved in oil packaging since 1995, has recently inaugurated its new headquarters in Colle Val d’Elsa.

The Ing3plus studio in Florence handled the design and project management for the new building.

The architectural composition revolves around the magnificent circular glass facade supported by a structure also made of glass. The very bright entrance highlights the prestige of the architecture and its spaces: a large area bounded by a curved window with an imposing entrance staircase.

Travertine was used for the pedestrian paving of all the areas surrounding the complex and also for the facade cladding of the small building at the entrance of the structure.

The choice of travertine

The Light Blend selection (code PDR067) of light color with veining in a pebble finish, aged and unfilled, was chosen. However, it was necessary to characterize the entrance of the main building with large curved cut slabs that corresponded to the structural elements of the facade and propagated from them. The entrance stairs also had to follow the circularity of the glass facade.

Detailed Survey

A detailed survey of the existing structure and the identification of “joker” pieces to be cut on site, for the adequate matching of the travertine pieces to the underlying concrete structure, allowed for a perfect job.

Pietre di Rapolano conducted the survey of the existing structure, designed the necessary executive pieces, and supervised the final installation.

The company Teknoimpianti of Prato, specialized in the installation of all kinds of flooring, assisted by the craftsmen of Pietre di Rapolano, ensured a perfect installation.
