The Stroke of the Sign

Due to its resistance and durability, travertine is an excellent choice for flooring public spaces designed to accommodate large flows of people and clients.

For the Mirò restaurant located on Via degli Olmi in Calenzano, Florence, the designers, architect Saverio Cazzato and architect Laura Pasquetti, chose stone for its aesthetic as well as technical characteristics.

Both specialized in projects for hospitality structures, boutiques, and restaurants, they have successfully brought to life a complete restyling project by carefully designing spaces, furnishings, and lighting.

The choice of travertine

The restaurant, as the name reveals, is inspired by Joan Mirò, a Spanish surrealist painter and sculptor whose art is characterized by bold strokes and an unconventional character.

The artistic touch, besides being present in the dishes, is also reflected in the creativity of the interiors. The color palette focuses on shades of beige and light ochre that bring brightness to the environment.

The chosen travertine, the Zebra Sunset selection in the size 61x61x1.3 cm and with a Modern finish (filled and honed), covered all the floors for a surface area of over 500 sqm.

Accurate selection of lights

During the selection phase, Pietre di Rapolano supported the designers by preparing moodboards and providing samples of the various color selections. As is well known, travertine naturally presents a variety of tones and shades that are selected during production to create selections characterized by a dominant coloration.

The result is of remarkable impact, thanks also to an accurate selection of lights that enhance the plastic and decorative elements on the walls and ceiling.

The environment is also decorated with sculptures and artworks, unique pieces that add character to particular corners.
