Middle Eastern flavor in Russia

The assignment received involved the supply of marble for an indoor pool and the areas designated as a wellness center for a prestigious house near Moscow in Russia.

We received colored drawings from the designers, showing the required decorations and color schemes: through close collaboration, various marbles capable of reproducing the envisioned design were proposed and selected.

The work on the mixing of various colors in the mosaics for the interior of the pool was also interesting: the designers wanted the mosaic color to darken as the water depth increased. Therefore, after selecting the four shades of travertine, their percentage was varied according to the depth.

The choice of travertine

In addition to the pool and surrounding areas, a hammam was created for body wellness.

The hammam is a practice that originates from afar, used in Middle Eastern countries and the Greco-Roman world: also known as a Turkish bath, it is a purification and gathering ritual performed in an environment saturated with steam that, settling on the skin, encourages perspiration.

The ideal environment is therefore a space clad with natural materials and pleasing to the eye, perhaps decorated with mosaics as in this project.

The technicians at Pietre di Rapolano prepared all the detailed drawings of the various pieces and elements constituting the entire work, then oversaw their execution.

The elements created were then packed and numbered according to the project plans and delivered directly to the Moscow site.

The materials chosen for the floors, coverings, mosaic decoration, and special pieces were Becagli Light travertine, Becagli Dark, Nero Marquinia, and mosaics of various colors and patterns. In particular, in the mosaic coverings inside the pool, yellow and red travertine of Iranian origin was also used.
