Introduction to the Project in Chianti

We are proud to present the “Il Masseto” project, a masterful restoration of a farmhouse in Castellina in Chianti.

This project was not just a renovation, but a restoration aimed at honoring the history and uniqueness of the location where it is nestled.

The goal was to create a luxury residence that celebrates the authenticity of the surrounding landscape with materials that speak the language of Tuscany.

The Architectural Vision: The Approach of Ora Architetti

The vision was curated by the Ora Architetti studio in Poggibonsi (www.orarchitetti.com), whose design philosophy is based on a disciplined and respectful approach.

The modernization was carried out with the utmost consideration for the context, ensuring that contemporary additions seamlessly integrated with the pre-existing building structure.

The result is a philological restoration that maintains the rustic soul with a touch of refined modernity.

The Areas of Intervention and Main Objectives

The restoration involved key areas for the spatial continuity and functional renewal of the farmhouse:

  • The Structure as a Whole: Renovation of internal and external floors and stairs.
  • Visual Connection: Creating a fluid material continuity between the interior and exterior spaces.
  • The Exterior and Relaxation: The creation of a new swimming pool and solarium area, designed as a natural extension of the residence, overlooking the Tuscan landscape.

The Choice of Materials: Travertine as a Noble Element

To achieve a result of excellence, the choice of noble materials in line with the local construction type was essential. Pietre di Rapolano’s Travertine was the undisputed protagonist, selected for its ability to combine aesthetic beauty, durability, and a deep connection with tradition.

Product Details: From Continuity to Solarium

The use of Avana Mix Travertine in slab for the floors, with its warm tones and laying pattern, creates an atmosphere of authentic elegance and enhances the spaciousness of the areas.

For the external focal point, the pool area, Zebra Chiara Travertine in cross-cut was chosen for its defined veins and bright tone.

This specific finish, in addition to a high aesthetic value, ensures the necessary technical performance (resistance and anti-slip safety) required in a wet area.

Conclusion: Harmony between History and Contemporary Design

The “Il Masseto” project, thanks to the vision of Ora Architetti and the unparalleled quality of our stones, is a manifesto of how modernization can occur in deep harmony with the landscape and architectural tradition.

It demonstrates that the skillful use of high-quality natural materials can give life to unique living spaces, where history and contemporary design coexist in perfect symbiosis.
