A view of Piazza Pitti

In the Santo Spirito district of Florence, in a picturesque location from which it is possible to admire the entirety of Piazza Pitti and its beauty, architect Ilaria Sassolini oversaw the renovation of a historic residence called PHH.

The rooms of the residence feature various types of fine marbles, from different origins, carefully selected based on the environment and its function.

Bianco di Carrara is not the only protagonist

In the kitchen area, a floor in Travertino Becagli scuro (codice PDR011), sourced from the Rapolano Quarries, was laid. It was created with 10×61 cm strips arranged in a herringbone pattern, with various shades ranging from medium beige to dark beige, creating a very warm, non-uniform color effect. In contrast with the floor, a custom-made Bianco di Carrara worktop with a bullnose edge and an inset sink was chosen. The kitchen cladding, also in Bianco di Carrara, consists of 7.5×15 cm strips arranged in staggered horizontal rows.

Bianco di Carrara was also chosen for the perimeter frames that define the parquet in the corridors connecting to the rooms, creating a sharp contrast with the taupe-colored walls.

The largest bedroom, adorned with beautiful frescoes, directly connects to the bathroom, which is clad in Bardiglio Trambiserra from Seravezza; the floors and cladding have standard 30×61 formats and a polished finish. The custom-made top with an under-mounted sink was crafted to measure and recessed into the wall.

In the room, behind the wall that serves as the headboard for the double bed, a space for the shower in Bianco di Carrara was created, enclosed by fixed and transparent glass.

Dry and minimal style

For one of the other bathrooms, a very elegant marble with a white background and veins tending towards dark blue and black was selected. From the same block of Lilac marble, the floors, cladding, shower tray, and even a solid rectangular sink with rounded corners were crafted.

The other bathrooms in Bianco di Carrara feature standard format floors and cladding with a polished finish. The showers are pavilion-style and installed on-site. The dry and minimal style of some pieces, such as the rectangular assembled sink in the smaller master bedroom’s bathroom, takes on classic tones due to the presence of unmistakable Florentine design faucets.
