Pietre di Rapolano’s travertine flies to Expo 2015 Milan

Natural stones have shaped the history of Italian architecture thanks to the wide range of available colors and finishes. In particular, travertine is the stone used for masterpieces such as the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum.
A piece of architectural history from the past is also present in the Mexico Pavilion, a work created for Expo 2015 Milan, the grand exhibition will open its doors to the public on May 1st.

Pietre di Rapolano had the honor of participating in this internationally significant project.
For this “universal” project, Pietre di Rapolano worked alongside NUSSLI, a Swiss company responsible for coordinating the construction work, and local partners entrusted with the execution of the works.

NUSSLI specifically chose Pietre di Rapolano as the supplier of stone materials for the external areas of the Pavilion.

In this project, the “Autunno” color selection was used, a travertine in beige and brown tones suitable for outdoor flooring, in the Ciottolo finish (tumbled, antiqued).
As per the project, the exteriors were made in travertine, including stairs, walls, and walkable areas.
The material was chosen in the Ciottolo finish, with an aged effect in various formats according to the surfaces to be tiled. The flooring is in the format 61×61 cm with a thickness of 3 cm.
The construction site is still bustling in the final days of work before the opening of Expo Milano 2015, and we visited it in mid-April to follow the final operations.
For this project, Pietre di Rapolano worked alongside various companies and professionals, an international team that required great attention in managing requests and needs given the significance of the work.
Working alongside designers and companies, striving to provide useful tools and perfect material is the goal that Pietre di Rapolano pursues for every job, whether with private individuals or companies, large or small.
