Outdoor Furniture Trends 2021: Outdoor Living
There’s nothing like being stuck at home for over a year to drive us to find new ways to enjoy our homes. And, since last year, there’s no better place to invest than in our outdoor spaces, whether they are small balconies in the city or lush gardens in the countryside.
We expect the popularity of outdoor spaces to continue growing in 2021, not only due to the pandemic period but also because many of us have started pursuing more sustainable lifestyles.
Below you’ll find the trends in outdoor furniture 2021 that will serve as inspiration for your outdoor living projects this year.
Year-round Outdoor Living Spaces

We foresee greater investments in products that make our yards, balconies, and patios more livable in extreme temperatures. We are looking to the Scandinavians, who long ago mastered the art of year-round outdoor convivial spaces and know that heavy blankets, fireplaces, and heating lamps can create a perfect living habitat even when temperatures are not mild.
For summer, however, we like retractable awnings to ward off the afternoon sun and a fan under a pergola for a bit of extra air, just to keep the mosquitoes away.
Vertical Gardens

Creating a greener outdoor space doesn’t have to be limited by the square footage you have: it just requires a bit more imagination. Even balcony gardening can work wonders for our health, besides giving us a new (and manageable) hobby in 2021.
You need to start thinking about space vertically. Utilizing exterior walls is a great way to add color: don’t improvise, but use a well-organized strategy to make the most of your small but powerful space.
On a small terrace, a unique color combination, although relaxing, can become a bit boring over time. Use green as a background color to combine with other shades and hues, to accentuate and contrast; be creative: here too, use one of the most current trends, recycling and returning to vintage, and include an old table or wooden bench (perhaps repainting it with a contrasting color).
More Attention to the View

Even if we can’t book a trip to the French countryside right now, we can bring a taste of the French countryside to us. You know those beautiful views of a garden outside the window that are so typically French? Don’t be discouraged, you too can create a personal mini masterpiece because, let’s be honest: even though we tend to spend more time outdoors in the nice weather, we ultimately spend more time indoors looking out the windows.
Now more than ever, you should pay close attention to what you see as soon as you look out: wouldn’t you like to have a nice focal point outside the window, whether you’re looking out from the kitchen or sitting in your favorite chair? Well, in these outdoor spaces, plants might require a bit more maintenance since they are subjects you’ll see every day: these are ideal spots for evergreen and ornamental plants that will “provide” greenery even in winter.
Pool Dream
You’re still in time, you know? Because, among all the dreams, for those who have the opportunity, the pool remains one of the most beautiful trends for outdoor 2021. Pool safety is a serious matter, not to be underestimated, but you don’t have to compromise on aesthetics: one of the best ways, for slip resistance and to add a level of class, without sacrificing safety, is the choice of travertine.
Staying inside is the new going out, and outdoor design has perhaps never been so beautiful: your outdoor space should feel like an extension of your home. Don’t you think?
