Modern or rustic stone fireplace: charm and poetry meet
The fireplace is often a distinctive element of the decor, immediately adding character and creating atmosphere in the environment and the home.
It has an almost ancient flavor that harks back to tradition and a bygone world where the family would gather at the end of the day around the hearth. Today, however, the fireplace no longer has just a rustic character and also stands out in modern environments furnished with a linear and clean taste, enhancing its charm thanks to the choice of a suitable and personalized cladding.

It is often present in mountain architecture, where the tradition of the fire burning in the fireplace is dictated not only by the winter climate or the availability of firewood but also by the ability to bring together and strengthen the community.
For this reason, it is often used in common areas of hospitality structures, such as hotels or bed & breakfasts, where it becomes a defining element that gives the space a welcoming character.
Important in the design of the environment is the choice of the cladding material for the fireplace, which must harmonize with the surrounding space and the furnishings in a homogeneous way.
In this project, the fireplace wall was completely clad in a deliberately irregular material that gives a natural character: split-finish travertine.

The rustic character of the stone is mitigated by the light color, which creates an elegant and clean play of surfaces and shadows.
This is perfectly complemented by the choice of wood, which, when paired with the stone, enhances its characteristics. Natural materials pair well with each other, and in this case, their combination and the transparency of the glass windows are the result of a stylistic choice determined by the desire to create harmony between the interior and exterior, as the structure is located in the mountains.

In the project, in addition to the split-finish light travertine, a Sunset travertine in a light version with the characteristic Duomo finish – brushed with chipped edges – was used, which enhances the nature of the stone while ensuring easy maintenance.
The chosen format for the living room and bathrooms creates a composite pattern by combining tiles of different sizes and shapes, rectangular or square, large and small.
