Let’s discover the Florence American Cemetery and Memorial together
The Florence American Cemetery and Memorial is located in the Florence South area, in Falciani, Tavarnuzze, and is one of the 14 sites, in overseas countries, chosen by the American Battle Monuments Commission to host the remains of those who fell abroad during the Italian campaign between 1943 and 1945.

The construction company Faesulae srl renovated the Florence American Cemetery at Falciani, a remarkable work not only of memory but also of cemetery architecture in travertine.
After the end of World War II, the United States government selected certain areas in Italian territory for the creation of monumental cemeteries, which could accommodate the remains of those who fought and lost their lives in Italy.

A vast area of meticulously maintained lawn, dotted with white crosses, stretches across the hill and culminates with the building housing the “Memorial.” A long red granite wall bears the names of the fallen, engraved for eternal memory. On either side of the wall, two open buildings contain maps of the locations of the military events in Italy, entirely made of polychrome marbles and the commemorative chapel. The buildings are made of Travertino Navona; the ceiling of these spaces is finished with mosaic tiles measuring 2 centimeters on each side.
It was precisely the mosaic on the ceiling that was the subject of the restoration, as leaks in the roof had damaged it.

The Faesulae company, tasked with the restoration, turned to us, specialists in all types of flooring and cladding in Pietra di Rapolano: over time, we have always selected different types of stone for floors, claddings, worked pieces, mosaics for all types of clients.
The collaboration between the two companies, already tested in many other projects, once again yielded the desired results, as can be seen from one of the two wings where the restoration has been completed.
