Interior design trends of 2022…And beyond
The interior design trends are a metaphor for the resilience and innovation we have experienced over the past two years, so keep reading to see how our homes are still evolving in 2022.
Newstalgia
We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: Newstalgia is popping up everywhere in 2022. For those unfamiliar, this interior design style blends vintage and retro furnishings with luxury finishes and high-end tech, managing to appear constantly current and evocative. Overall, we are witnessing a mix of interiors for 2022, balancing between the nostalgic vibes of the 2000s and the use of more minimalist and eco-friendly styles.

Sculptural lighting
The most beautiful update you can make to your home this year? Give it pieces that we might call sculptural lighting. Etsy’s 2022 trends have revealed a significant increase in this type of home lighting, from chandeliers to abstract wall sconces, adding character and eccentricity to a space. And, just like Newstalgia, trends in this sector for this year draw inspiration from the past: there are many references to Art Deco, early modernism, and Bauhaus, thus recalling fixtures with industrial metal accents, antique finishes, and frosted glass.
Hellenistic revival

Gwenyth Paltrow shared a full tour of her home on Architectural Digest and the dining room, like much of her residence (just see her SPA space above), showcases the best of the Hellenistic revival. This trend pays homage to ancient Greek motifs; from bust statues and Corinthian frames to gold, blue, black, and white palettes, and the repeated use of marble. And while Paltrow’s ethereal dining room is purely indicative and hardly replicable, dreamy walls and ancient motifs are making a big comeback this year.
Going green

By now, you’ve probably noticed that green tones are the “it” color of 2022. But the most interesting thing about this trend is that it stems from biophilia and holistic wellness; a cleaner home means less cluttered environments and the green color evidently speaks to the more ecological part of the social fabric around us. Ferns, vertical walls, and gardens (with great care for them) are extremely trendy at this historical moment, and this type of look combines greenery and decorative tones, reaching open and airy spaces fused with various relaxed vibes…a bit ’70s.
Jewel furniture
What else are interior designers obsessed with in 2022? Jewel-toned furniture: so go ahead with many warm tones where you will see rich shades, like “burnt” oranges accompanied by vibrant colors with accented patterns in blue or deep green; so we’re talking about sensations that recall stones like ruby, emerald, sapphire, amethyst, and luxurious gold-colored pieces that can elevate a space with dramatic and significant colors. In short, it’s the easiest way to transform a room into a mood full of a thousand passions.
Which of these paths will you take to be totally in tune with 2022?
