Interior Design Style. The test to find the one that suits you

Style is a way to express individuality, communicate our personality, and make us feel confident and comfortable every day.

It is part of our ritual as we dress, but the right style is not only important when choosing clothes; it is also crucial in the interior design style of our home environment.

What is an interior design style and why do you need one?

In essence, it is a collection of colors, patterns, and textures influenced by an era or trend, and it is the key to creating a perfect interior style while keeping the overall aesthetics of your home harmonious and consistent. However, this does not mean you have to stick to a single style.

If you like to break the rules and have a natural talent for mixing and matching, a “fusion” of trends might be the best expression of who you are.

How to discover your style

Creating a Pinterest or Instagram board is a great way to collect images of colors, textures, patterns, and actual interiors: you will find many results for any design-related search; our advice is to create one for each living space, so one for the kitchen, one for the living room, and so on.

Are you ready? Let’s begin.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

1. Did you like the style of “The Great Gatsby” film remake from a few years ago with Leonardo DiCaprio?

  1. No.
  2. Yes.
  3. Very much.

2. The characteristics of lofts, large spaces originally used as warehouses or offices, are easily distinguishable. Would you like to get comfortable in these rooms?

  1. No, I don’t see myself there at all.
  2. Yes, I can already imagine myself there.
  3. I like it, but it’s too “American” for me.

3. Furniture with clean and refined lines that look great in prestigious environments and, despite the passage of time, have come back into vogue. Do these images make you feel at home?

  1. I’m not entirely convinced, although I find it a very current style.
  2. Yes, that’s exactly how I want my home to be.
  3. Are you kidding?

4. A skillful use of stone materials and wood in the finishes makes these interiors reassuring and “tactile.” Do you also feel this reassuring sensation?

  1. These environments are beautiful!
  2. I like some finishes, but I’m not sure if it’s for me.
  3. No, we’re way off track.

5. In these photos, the impact of natural light and the simplicity of the environment are fundamental. How much do you like them from 1 to 10?

  1. 10.
  2. 5.
  3. 1.

6. Colors, finishes, and shapes, different styles and cultures come together to create a truly eclectic result. Headache or total love?

  1. Too much!
  2. By removing something, which in my opinion is too much, it would be perfect.
  3. To save on my Pinterest boards!

7. Relaxing environments, free from formalities, typical of Northern European countries: the dominant color palette includes only light shades. Feelings?

  1. Wonderful.
  2. Negligible.
  3. Sad and cold.

We have reached the end of the test. Add up your answers and see which style best suits your personality and your home.

Majority of 1: Classic, but also a bit rustic

Who can resist the charm of a modern country house? Certainly not you, as there is always something charming and relaxing for you in the contemporary country style! You don’t love bold colors and believe it’s possible to highlight a room using only contrasting accessories.

Soft tones like sage, mint blue, or “dusty” work for your interior design style, but also some hints of deep red: for a country style to work, don’t be afraid to mix stripes, checks, and some floral “presences.” Take a look at this project of ours: you’ll find some inspiration.

Majority of 2: Industrial and contemporary, with a touch of vintage

Today’s “industrial” style interiors are very chic and highly desirable, regardless of whether they are in a truly industrial space. The typical architectural elements of these spaces are exposed bricks, exposed pipes, concrete floors, and large windows: combining these aspects with material elements like travertine will help you create a space with both industrial and contemporary features.

This style is easily mixable with vintage furniture pieces, especially when you maintain a predominantly neutral color palette made of shades like cream, gray, brown, and black. Take a look at this project of ours: you’ll find some inspiration.

Majority of 3: Eclectic and boho chic

An eclectic interior design style is based on the fusion of different periods and styles. This is the perfect decorative style for those who don’t want to follow a current look but want to somehow invent it themselves: a baroque chandelier will find space without problems next to an African mask or an Art Deco table, according to your inspiration of the moment.

The challenge is to create harmonious decor despite a Babel of styles: to maintain some coherence, we recommend “betting” on a more imposing or brightly colored central object, like a painting or a table, and making it the focal point of the room. Take a look at this project of ours: you’ll find some inspiration.
