Ideas for modern rustic decor. Impossible?
Move a little further, dear Scandinavian bohemian friend!
Modern rustic decor tells stories with textures and colors that new furniture simply cannot; this style among a thousand possibilities is one of our favorites because it can summarize many seemingly discordant feelings and characters. And, a small additional consideration, modern rustic interior design works well in almost every room, from the living room to the bedroom and bathroom.
What is modern rustic decor?
It is a style characterized by a clean and modern aesthetic balanced by softer and more natural textures that highlight the art of mixing old and new.
Here are some tips for creating a home with rustic furnishings and modern touches.
Incorporate reclaimed materials
It is possible to create a rustic atmosphere in a modern room by using wood elements like beams and keeping all natural finishes. If you want to create this effect in a more traditional home, you can make it modern by juxtaposing natural finishes with cleaner and more neutral architectural details.
For example, choose walls clad in bricks.
Mix styles and shapes

Modern rustic design is a play of natural materials and clean lines. In the photo above, for example, a distinctive feature is a rustic, classic, casual, and relaxed table; a mix of more or less vintage and more or less matching chairs adds visual interest. Pendant lighting, simple lines, and a minimally decorated space add a modern touch, and the overall look seems layered without being too much.
Look to the past

Vintage pieces and antique furniture combine well with curated textures and more modern patterns, like newer fashion books resting on the coffee table in the living room. Rustic accessories with a contemporary sofa, or a vintage side chair update the overall look.
Choose natural materials

Being as close to nature as possible is what we have carried over from 2020 and continues as a trend in 2021. This means materials like rattan and fabrics like linen, wool, and silk; use them for carpets, windows, or sheets.
Create intimate and cozy spaces

How to make someone feel in an intimate yet spacious, rustic yet refined space? By creating small spots in the house that can accommodate one or two people curled up on a chair, perhaps under a staircase? (the photo above is proof that blue and pink work well together even in rustic spaces)
Use nature’s colors

In this powder room, moss green paint manages to look cheerful yet relaxing, soft. With brass fixtures and vintage accents, like an industrial lantern, there’s a lot of rustic personality, don’t you think?
By taking pieces of styles from both vintage and modern, but with a strong emphasis on the imperfect beauty of nature, modern rustic decor is both sophisticated, unpretentious, and deeply connected with the natural environment.
