How to install a shower tray in Pietra di Rapolano

The shower trays in Pietra di Rapolano are made from a single solid piece of travertine, with varying thicknesses depending on the model. Travertine, as is well known, is a material that naturally has holes and cavities.

The shower trays, like bathroom and kitchen sinks, are sold grouted and polished, which means that a cement grouting makes them perfectly compact and watertight. A final silicone treatment ensures their impermeability.

Nevertheless, it is recommended to place a waterproof membrane between the screed and the shower tray, because despite all the precautions described above, some small holes or cavities may remain.

Clearly, there will never be any leaks, but in case, over time and with use, some very small seepage occurs, the presence of the waterproof membrane will prevent any problems. Either a true membrane or a Mapelastic waterproofing product will work perfectly.

The insertion of this is absolutely easy and economical during the shower tray installation and protects us from potential repairs and future problems that would only be solvable by dismantling the shower tray, which during this operation would almost certainly be broken.
