Giuseppe Penone at Forte Belvedere Florence
The recently reopened Forte Belvedere continues its dedication to contemporary art by hosting the exhibition “Prospettiva Vegetale” dedicated to Giuseppe Penone, a master of Arte Povera.
The path that winds between Forte Belvedere, a beautiful location offering a unique view of the city of Florence, and the nearby Boboli Gardens, emphasizes the relationship between architecture and landscape, and between man and environment.
Visitors can stroll among Penone’s works and seek their own personal perspective in a continuous dialogue between art and nature.

Indeed, it is the trees, which for the artist “are an idea of perfect sculpture,” that are the protagonists of the 22 sculpture-installations that wind between the Forte and Boboli, trees freed from bark, trees imprinted and sculpted in marble blocks, trees torn or struck but brought back to new life.
Noble materials, such as marble and bronze, are combined with organic elements for sculptures with unprecedented lines, the result of the artist’s creativity, representing a symbol of natural strength and energy.

Created in marble, the series of sculptures “Anatomia”, blocks of pure white marble carved with ripples and veins as if the branches and roots of a tree had been imprinted in the material.

Sunday, September 14, it will be possible to visit the exhibition at Forte Belvedere for free during the Open Days organized by Il Gioco del Lotto.
On this occasion, there will be free guided tours (from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM) and educational workshops for families from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM. For more information, click here.
