Desire for a pool: why cover it with travertine

Durable, frost-resistant, and accessible to everyone: travertine is a perfect material for outdoor coverings.
Today, travertine is available in various colors, shapes, and finishes and easily adapts to any type of environment. This stone has been used for centuries for exteriors, as its origin is water, making it particularly suitable for bathrooms and pools.
Travertine can decorate the pool’s exterior area or cover its interior; like many natural stones, it will retain its beauty despite the seasons and the passage of time.

There are many examples.

Like this 21-meter pool by the Aguirre Arquitetura studio, with an infinity edge on all sides, entirely covered in light travertine both outside and inside.

Or the pool of a Victorian House in Australia located at the center of the residence with exterior travertine coverings that, when chosen with the appropriate finishes, also have anti-slip properties.

Or again, the beautiful project by the A Cero studio in Madrid with a pool, exteriors, and platforms in light striped travertine that echoes the facade coverings.

Finally, just to show you how travertine is truly a “natural friend” of water, are you familiar with the picturesque location of Pamukkale in Turkey?

This place, which in Turkish means “cotton castle,” has seen the emergence of numerous thermal springs following frequent earthquakes.

As the water emerges, it loses much of its carbon dioxide, generating calcium carbonate that gives rise to these characteristic formations, consisting of thick white layers of limestone and travertine along the mountain slope. A marvel.
