It’s no secret that the 70s are back in style. From wicker furniture to maximalist designs, more and more inspiration is drawn from the fun and eclectic designs typical of those years; one of the trends inspired in this sense is the return of colored sinks in bathrooms.

If the thought of colored sinks brings back frightening flashbacks of your grandmother’s salmon pink bathroom, don’t worry. This is a trend now used in the most sophisticated and modern way ever: you should know that these types of sinks can also be made of natural materials, such as stone and travertine, where you can indeed find various shades ranging from ochre to red to gray, available in different shapes, squared or rectangular but also circular or with an irregular appearance.

When choosing a colored sink for your bathroom, it will be possible to decorate it in tone with the sink as in this example above, where the marble sink is set in a bathroom with coverings in the same color nuance. For those who love intense tones, it is preferable to choose a sink with a clean design like the classic countertop basin shape, perhaps in a particular travertine of intense red color almost brick-colored, simple and with a worked edge. Stone truly offers many shades that nature can provide, particularly the entire range of grays with more or less present textures that become particularly intense in the “Antico” travertine characterized by the presence of gray, blue, beige, and white tones. What is behind the return of colored sinks?

What is old is new again in interior design, so this revival towards the past is logical: after decades of all-white interiors, color is being embraced in the home in a multitude of ways. The return of colored sanitary ware is part of a broader trend towards bolder and more expressive home decor, to give more personality and character to spaces, using interior design to enliven traditionally utilitarian spaces like bathrooms, kitchens, and even laundries. Indeed, we continue to see the bathroom evolve into a space of expression where you can take a bit more risk: color can add a sophisticated, familiar, and harmonious touch, but at the same time surprising and engaging.

Are colored sinks a passing trend?

Sure, like all fashions, it’s probably only a matter of time before colored sinks go out of style. But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth trying if you’re looking to add a fun touch of color to your bathroom, plus, if we’ve learned anything about trends, colored sanitary ware will come back into fashion in the near future.
