Black Travertine Bathroom

The Pietra di Rapolano is quarried in Rapolano, a small village near Siena, nestled among the clay hills, in the most typical landscape of the Tuscan countryside.

The history of our company begins with this splendid travertine many years ago. It is precisely the most typical characteristics of this stone, its veins, its clouding, and its color contrasts that have taught us to love and appreciate, ultimately even the “strangeness” of this material.

Strangeness understood as diversity compared to the typical chromatic standards of travertine.

Having appreciated this material, learned to manage it and promote it among our clients, led to the next step of searching, from all over the world, for the most particular and unusual travertines, to complement the wide range of colors already in our possession.

This bathroom, in black travertine, which we have named Zebra Black, offers us a new perspective on the expressive possibilities of nature, in the form of travertine.

Black Travertine from Pietre di RapolanoThe Zebra Black is offered to our clients cut against the grain, a cut that makes the travertine’s streaks clearly visible, also because this type of cut emphasizes the structure of this material.

In this bathroom, in addition to the cladding and flooring in Zebra Black, the sink top was made from the same material.

The combination of a “standard” floor, in this case in the size 30.5x61x1.3 cm, with a custom-cut piece, the sink top, is one of the proposals we often make to achieve a higher level of sophistication. Indeed, a standard material is already capable of creating the right suggestion and emotion, but it is the addition of a custom piece, designed and made for that specific bathroom, that will make it absolutely unique!
