Bathroom with travertine cladding and wooden flooring
The use of natural materials is increasingly appreciated and sought after, and even in the bathroom, the combination of wood and stone lends itself very well to being used.
Natural materials are immune to going out of style: stone and wood, in their infinite shades of tones, textures, and colors, are not expressions of a specific cultural moment, but are part of an emotional baggage that everyone carries within themselves.
The Pietra di Rapolano, used as a finish, in combination with wood, creates very charming spaces. In this bathroom, a magnificent wooden floor is paired with a cladding in Becagli Chiaro (Pdr 006), whose soft hues contrast with the intense color of the floor.

The cladding is in Rural finish (only polished, with the typical travertine holes left open), a finish that enhances the characteristics of this type of stone.
To complete the cladding, at the height of the sink, a mosaic strip of the Bars model was placed.
This strip continues around the entire perimeter of the bathroom, even entering the shower. The use of mosaic as an enrichment strip or even as a closure for a travertine cladding is certainly very interesting. In this bathroom, the mosaic model consists of bars of different sizes laid horizontally.
In another bathroom of the house, a different mosaic model, the Planks, was used. In this case, the mosaic elements, bars of equal size, were laid vertically, creating a sharper contrast in the wall cladding.
The mirror was enhanced with a baroque frame that creates a stylistic contrast with the simplicity and linearity of the materials.
As mentioned, a wooden floor was always used in these bathrooms. It is important to consider the use of wood in the bathroom. It is often thought that this is an improper use of this material, fearing that the wood may suffer in a humid environment.
It is evident that wood, like all natural materials, is subject to reacting to the environment and undergoing transformations due to use, but it is also true that such transformations are part of the beauty of natural materials.
Generally, the transformation that use generates on natural materials creates an enrichment and not an aging, bringing a patina that only time can create. It is also true that a natural material is more delicate and requires more attention and care: a flooded bathroom with wooden flooring cannot be left to itself, but simply drying it and the care and treatments that modern technologies provide will preserve it for many years.
