Bathroom Trends 2022: Dream Decor
The pandemic has completely transformed our perception of “normality.” We increasingly need a quiet and relaxing space at our disposal as we navigate another unprecedented year in history. The solution? Create a spa-like bathroom that offers peace, relaxation, and relief from the chaotic outside world. Two out of five people renovated a master bathroom last year and stated they did so to make it an almost ascetic space, according to the 2021 Houzz bathroom trends study. But what does it look like, exactly?
We have gathered data to highlight the 2022 bathroom trends and new ideas to implement in your space.
Natural and Spa-like Surfaces, Combined
Perhaps the biggest bathroom trend in 2022 is the emphasis on smooth surfaces and discreet organic materials. Thus, more applications where finishes and textures are varied to create dimension, depth, and intrigue; bathroom designs where natural stone and glossy tiles are used together to create a “wow effect” without compromising harmony.
Biophilia and Greenery

Pinterest released its “Predictions” list and the verdict was clear: “biophilic design” will also dominate in 2022. For those unfamiliar, it is a design concept focused on our human connection with nature. The Houzz report found that nearly a third of homeowners add greenery to their bathroom during renovations because they find plants aesthetically pleasing and they create a relaxing environment.
Freestanding Tubs

What we can observe is a strong pursuit of an open environment where a significant tub or shower takes center stage: the look can range from ultra-minimalist to modern and excludes the use of bath mats, allowing for glass doors or shower screens (goodbye to awkward shower curtains).
Warm and Earthy Tones

Cooler gray color palettes have peaked, and warmer color palettes and a subtle return to undertones like cream, beige, and nude are coming back stronger. This is probably not surprising; earth-inspired shades have been trending for a while (and are here to stay).
Curved Lines
We know that warm neutrals and natural finishes are all the rage this year: however, we must admit that this trend could be a recipe for a boring bathroom. Fortunately, there’s a trick to give your space a bit of je ne sais quoi, and it’s all in the details.
The curved line is increasingly making its way into our homes… The reason is simple. People love a soft line that seems to wrap you in a hug after going through the tough times caused by Covid. The curve can be used in interior design projects for doors, windows, cabinet designs, arched ceilings, or even shown in patterns, fabrics, and tile designs.
