5 truly beautiful pools around the world
The properties and characteristics of natural stone, and in particular travertine, make it suitable for pool cladding and environments in contact with water.
There are many examples of projects where travertine has been used, from luxury villas to exclusive resorts, as well as more “domestic” structures immersed in nature.
Here are 5 projects from around the world, and as many ways of interpreting the pool, which we particularly like.

Oasis in Brazil
An oasis immersed in nature, this is the project by the studio Aguirre Arquitetura which used travertine to pave the pool and the interiors of the villa in Uberlandia. The villa has a functional design with a harmonious distribution among the various spaces: the living area, which includes the living room, dining room, a cinema room, and a terrace, is south-facing while the more intimate spaces, such as the bedroom and services, are on the opposite side.

Luxury in the city
A splendid indoor pool, located on the 2nd floor of an elegant building on Brompton Road, in the heart of London, designed by David Chipperfield. The building, which spans 5 floors, features luxurious interiors with travertine floors, oak doors, and accessories and walls in polished plaster.
The result is a spacious and bright environment with neutral and soft tones thanks to the use of natural materials.

Nature 360°
Immersed in the greenery of Rio de Janeiro, RT House is a project by the Sao Paulo studio Jacobsen Arquitetura. A house completely surrounded by greenery and developed over two floors but appearing as a low construction, with only one visible floor. The floors and claddings are in travertine, with extensive use of wood to enhance the connection with the natural environment.

Infinity pool
These are the pools that give the impression of never ending as they blend with the horizon and the sea: like the splendid pool of the ultra-luxury resort The Luxury Caribbean Resort Viceroy Anguilla on the small island of Anguilla. The claddings are all in striped travertine, both in the exteriors such as the patio and the pool, and in the interiors such as the dining room and the bar.

Pool at the heart of the house
Here the pool is primarily the heart of the house and becomes an integral part of the inner courtyard that both unites and divides the different rooms and residences. The Courtyard House project in Singapore, designed by the studio Formwerkz Architects, is indeed inspired by traditional Chinese courtyard houses “Siheyuan” and seeks to adapt this model to a modern and urbanized context.
