We are sure to see a renewed appreciation for handmade items, likely as an antidote to our high-tech lives. Consequently, we will find more prominent and rustic-looking textures, such as wood and natural stone full of character. We will embrace the imperfections of natural materials like granite or marble and move further away from glossy artificial surfaces. The demand will be to see and feel natural textures like linen, wood, and stone – the opposite of the screens where we spend much of our time.

As we write, we still do not know what the Pantone Color of the Year 2021 will be.

However, we know what we expect from our home: a sense of peace, calm, and comfort. And what could be better than living by the poolside or on a beach, where water and blue convey tranquility?

For this reason, blue is the key color trend for the year and is a perfect color to create a tranquil home, ranging from intense tones to softer shades.

JOYFUL COLORS

In these times, we feel uncertain and the scenario appears bleak. The last thing we want is for our homes to look dull and depressing, especially since we spend so much time there. Therefore, colors like gray or black will tend to be reconsidered, in favor of colors that make us feel more optimistic, such as yellow… The 2021 decor will move from sophisticated ochre and mustard shades, to warm beige and bold yellow: after all, there are many shades of this color that make it more accessible at home.

NATURAL LIGHT

Due to this historical moment, there is a growing demand for homes that embrace natural light, with a consequent increase in the popularity of houseplants. To feel more connected to the natural world, we need our homes to match this need. 2021 will bring renovations with large windows, higher ceilings, and more open spaces, ideal for achieving this goal.
